Andis 22340 AGC 2-Speed Detachable-Blade Small-Animal Clipper

Rating: ★★★★½

The Andis 22340 AGC2 2-Speed Professional Animal Clipper is good for those who have pets that are sensitive to noise and hot blades near their skin.  These clippers are advertised for smaller dogs, because they are more sensitive to these conditions than larger animals are.  However, they can be used for large dogs just as easily.  It cuts at two speeds, 2700 and 3400 strokes per minute, allowing it to be quieter and run cooler while still providing a good professional cut like the quicker models.  You can use a ton of different blades with it and it has a locking blade hinge, which keeps the blade locked in place during grooming while also allowing you to push back the blade to clean any hair that might get inside.

Where To Buy?

I’d highly recommend buying it from Amazon.com (check current discounted price) because it’ll save you over $30.  You can also have it shipped to you for free.  The trouble with buying (or even finding) these clippers in your local stores is that they boost the price way up and they might be difficult to find.  Amazon always has these in stock ready to ship.

Is It Good For My Dog’s Breed?

These clippers were specifically made for dogs that are sensitive to noise and temperature.  Smaller dogs are usually the ones that are jumpy at the sound of these.  So, what they do is tone down the speed.  While they won’t be able to clip as fast as some of the faster clippers, the difference in time spent grooming is marginal at best.  You’ll still years of a nice, clean cut.

Do They Run Hot And Noisy?

Nope!  Again, that’s exactly what these clippers were designed to be, quiet and cool with less speed but the same cut, for those smaller pups who get eeked out easily.

Want them to run even cooler?  Get yourself a universal size 10 CeramicEdge blade.  Ceramic blades stay cooler compared to steel blades (UltraEdge blades).

What Kind Of Blades Can I Use With Them?

Professional clippers need to be very flexible, because they are designed to be used for multiple kinds of dogs in a professional setting.  With that said, you can use all of Andis UltraEdge and CeramicEdge blades.  You can even use some of the Oster A5 blades with these as well.

User Reviews

On Amazon.com, these clippers have over 30 reviews with an average rating of 4.5/5 stars.  A lot of people have bought these clippers because of the price savings, professional cut, and for their smaller dogs that have tough coats.  You should read a lot of those reviews by clicking here.

Here are some rewritten pros and cons from those reviews:

Pros

“I didn’t have any grooming experience at all, but my schnauzer/yorkie mix looks so good after I was done with him.  They are pretty quiet and run cool, definitely recommend.”

“I’ve been cutting hair for a long time, so I bought some regular clippers to use on our collie, and they didn’t work out at all.  Totally lost my confidence.  So I bought these and they worked out so well!  Made me feel like a pro again.”

“Got these for my two mini-shnauzers, and I gotta say that for a first time groomer, I got some real professional looking results!”

Cons

“The only thing I didn’t like was that it didn’t come with any attachment combs or other equipment, you have to buy that separately.”

“The size 10 blade didn’t work out for me and my dog, so I was a little put back when I had to buy another blade.”

Conclusion

If you have a smaller dog with a tough coat, you’re best off with a heavy duty clipper that’ll give you some professional looks results for years to come.  It’s well worth the investment.  If that’s you, then I highly recommend the Andis 22340 AGC2 2-Speed Professional Animal Clipper for your home grooming needs.
